Aqua Aware

Aqua Aware aims to raise awareness about drowning prevention as Florida leads the nation with the most child drownings. Our goal is to provide water safety tips from experts and share personal experiences.

Meet the Team

Valentina Gaspari is a bilingual journalist from Buenos Aires, Argentina who is passionate about the broadcast industry.

Gaspari is heavily involved with Caplin News and Newsbreak at Florida International University. She pitches and reports both national and local stories that range from politics to sports. She also anchors the student-run newscast.

Gaspari will graduate from the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media with a bachelor’s degree in digital communication and media in Spring 2025.

Mauro Rueda is a bilingual journalist at Florida International University who hopes to work in the sports industry.

Rueda writes stories about the South Florida community for Caplin News. Rueda has a blog called “The Goal Desire,” where he shares the latest happening in sports.

Rueda will graduate from the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media with a bachelor’s degree in digital broadcasting with an area of concentration in sports journalism in Summer 2025.

Beverly Renee Muzii is a journalist at Florida International University who explores storytelling through the humanities, arts, and culture.

Muzii is the chief student correspondent for ArtSpeak, an

e-magazine and publication platform sponsored by FIU’s College of Communication Architecture and the Arts.

Muzii will graduate from the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media with a bachelor’s degree in digital communication and media in Spring 2025.

Julianna Garcia is a junior at Florida International University who is interested in multimedia production.

Garcia aspires to become a producer, director, or editor in the future to make a positive impact through storytelling and visual communication.

Garcia will graduate from the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media with a bachelor’s degree in digital communication and media in the Summer 2025.

Daniela Morales is a senior at Florida International University who hopes to become a news broadcaster.

Morales has experience reporting, editing, and producing content. She has written stories for Caplin News about local events and features.

Morales will graduate from the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media with a bachelor’s degree from in digital communication and media in Spring 2025.
